The principle behind this is taken from Paul's teaching to the early church in Ephesians 4:11-13 (ANIV)
It was he who gave some to be apostles, some to be prophets, some to be evangelists, and some to be pastors and teachers, [12] to prepare God's people for works of service, so that the body of Christ may be built up [13] until we all reach unity in the faith and in the knowledge of the Son of God and become mature, attaining to the whole measure of the fullness of Christ. Our desire is to develop a biblically equipped workforce that is committed to serving the Lord and one another, whether at home, the workplace or within a ministry of Glenabbey. To enable us to achieve this we have developed a programme of training that consists of General Training aimed at anyone attending Glenabbey, Core Training for members of Glenabbey and a number of Supporting Elements for anyone attending Glenabbey or other churches. General and Core Training generally, but not always, takes place on a Wednesday night and advance registration is preferred at the Information Desk, by telephoning the office (02890 849600) or by [email] General training: Our General Training is open to anyone attending Glenabbey. On occasions people who do not attend Glenabbey have also benefited from these courses. They are run at various intervals during the year depending on circumstances and resources.
Core training: these courses are central to the fulfilment of our mission and we would encourage everyone in Glenabbey to participate in these. All courses last 5 weeks and run on a Wednesday evening starting at 8.00pm and ending around 9:30pm. See the [What's On?] for details of the courses we are currently running. Registration is at the Information Desk on Sundays or [email]
Supporting Elements: Conferences/Events: our conferences and events are usually planned to deal with issues that are relevant to the members of Glenabbey. However these are also open to the wider church community. In the past year we have dealt with issues such as "Has Science buried God?" as well as looking at alternative medicine and how we can better understand our current political situation in Northern Ireland given our history. Resource Room: this is a new development that we hope will be available shortly. Our aim is to provide the members, and in particular the leaders, of Glenabbey access to an excellent collection of resources that will help with their own spiritual development as well as preparation for leading courses, Home Groups etc. Some of our recorded resources are available online for [sale] or [download] In the future we would like to see this facility developed to incorporate a Study Centre which would provide a suitable environment for study and material preparation including computer and multimedia facilities. Bookstall: we have an increasing selection of essential reading material for sale in the new resource area at the back of the Main Hall. |

The Equipping Ministry exists to support the church's mission 'to see more people changed into devoted and mature followers of Jesus Christ' through the provision of Bible centred teaching, training and resources for all, and in particular for the core servants of the church, and through the training and development of leaders within Glenabbey.
